Home improvements

Maybe I am repeating myself, but I hope not. Seriously, I could go back and read but I am far too lazy for that.  And once these thoughts are typed off of my fingers here, I am sick of them.  That is...until I repeat them.

Here are some before and after shots of my house and it's resurrection.  I have nothing but gratitude about this process.  I've had help along the way from friends and my dad.  I am pretty damn lucky.  We are becoming more like a real house.  Man oh man.

Family room before.

Family room after.

Railing before.
Railing after.  Courtesy of my dad at Selby Ornamental Iron Company.  But don't email him for a bid, call him on the phone.

Bathroom before.

Bathroom after (but before tile and moving washer/dryer).

Tom (dad) and I spent THREE HOURS at Menards the other day He was telling the cashier how to scan items, and getting impatient with him.  Super comfy.  I do love him and his quirks.

Kitchen light before (seriously, nice right?)

Kitchen light after.

This cracked me up.

Furnace room (soon to be laundry room) floor before.
Furnace room (soon to laundry room) floor after.

We put in wood floors when we moved in TEN years ago .  The quarter-round was never put in.  Can you imagine the crud down there?  Gross.

This isn't very clean, but it is installed.  I don't have to think about that shit ever again.

I suck at panoramic photos.  And we will be getting shades and getting rid of those paper lamps.  Also, we are putting ten recessed lights in.  But it looks better upstairs for sure!  The boys think so.

To be continued...

  2. Wow! What a gorgeous transformation! It must feel so different to come home to a beautiful, well-cared for home - a tangible sign of your changes in recovery, very nice!
